Paige Cahill, BSc
Mental Health Therapy Intern
I am a practicum student with YEG Family Counselling. My background is in anti-sexual violence advocacy and supporting survivors of sexual violence, and this is my main area of expertise. I also love working with individuals, couples, and families in navigating the impacts of other forms of trauma (particularly religious trauma), life transitions, grief, loss, anxiety, and depression.
My Ideal Client
I work with individuals (10+), couples, and families. I especially love working with:
Clients with a history of sexual violence
Those who have experienced spiritual abuse or religious trauma
People who are navigating life transitions, chronic illness and/or pain
People struggling with grief, loss, anxiety, and depression.
Working with Me
My approach to counselling is relatively conversational, relaxed, and open, with a touch of humour. I bring my full self to each and every session and value authenticity; this means that when we connect, you can expect me to be open, empathetic, and genuine. I also believe that everyone is always doing their best in life with what they have available to them in the moment -- so you can expect me to celebrate and highlight your strengths. I also practice from a trauma-informed and person centred lens, which means I am constantly considering the ways in which our experiences of trauma impact our behaviours and ways of being, and I will always meet you where you are at, while allowing you to be in the "driver's seat".

When I'm not at YEG FC...
When not at work, I live with my partner and our silly and chaotic cat Jeepers, who you will likely hear about at some point in session. I spend my free time reading fantasy novels, playing board games and video games with my friends, and sewing -- a hobby I picked up during the pandemic! While I'm still learning, I love how it calms my brain and allows me to focus on something with my hands. Some other things I love, in no particular order: space, cooking, beatrix potter, Lord of the Rings, pastel colours, making jokes, angel food cake, and escape rooms.
