Mental Health Therapy Intern

About Me
I am a Masters student at Yorkville University completing my practicum under the supervision of Amy Nydam. The best part about that for my clients is that I offer low-fee therapy! I am an avidly-learning attachment nerd, and I have a special interest in working with couples, eating disorders, and anxiety.
My Ideal Client
I work with individual adults, couples, and families. I especially love working with:
Clients struggling with body dysmorphia
Clients with anxiety and other mood disorders
Families and couples where mental health struggles are getting in the way of their connection.
Working with Me
I have been waiting for this practicum placement for almost a year and I could not be more excited to put all of my learning into practice. I am directly supervised by Amy Nydam, the owner of YEG FC, and her nerdiness around attachment and neurobiology is really wearing off on me. I am also drawn to mindfulness and emotionally-focused techniques with clients.
In my work with clients, I am warm but practical and approach every person that steps into my therapy space with compassion. I also spend a LOT of my time learning, researching, planning, and discussing my clients with more experienced clinicians. In a way, when you work with a student, you get triple the time for half the rate.
My Experience
Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology - Expected May 2023
Bachelors of the Arts in Psychology
When I'm not at YEG FC...
I live with my partner and a half Ragdoll, half Siamese cat named Dash. I enjoy being in nature, keeping active, and exploring new cuisines. If I am on days off I am either spending time with my family or going on a new adventure.
