About Me
Hi Folks! I'm Marek, a Provisional Psychologist who loves working with relationship dynamics both individually and with couples. Much of my experience has involved supporting men struggling with their mental health, as well as people who've been subjected to acts of sexual violence. Another passion of mine is providing relationship counselling to people who engage in all forms of ethical non-monogamy. Finally, I also really like helping folks unpack their experiences and understanding of the complexity of neurodivergence. Whether those experiences are their own, or those of the people in their lives.
My Ideal Client
I work with individuals 12+ as well as couples. I especially love working with:
Men who are struggling with mental health and/or their experience of masculinity;
People who have experienced sexual violence;
Couples struggling with connection, division of labour, sex and sexuality, and injuries in the relationship;
Individuals and couples navigating/exploring non-monogamy;
People struggling with grief, loss, depression, or anxiety;
People grappling with shame, accountability, and making change after causing harm;
People navigating their or a partner's experence of neurodivergence.

Working with Me
My belief is that the power of therapy comes from creating a space of authenticity, connection, belief, and safety. I practice in ways that reflect this, bringing open conversation, non-judgment, and humour into the space. Practicing authentically also means sometimes I'll be direct and shine light onto things that can feel uncomfortable, but I will be there every step of the way to help us both understand and work through that discomfort.
I pull from a variety of methods and theories, but the two pillars that inform everything I do are person-centred care and systemic analysis. Those are fancy terms that mean that I always aim to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental approach that focuses on listening and understanding who you are, as well as the different cultural and societal factors that influence you and the struggles you face.

When I'm not at YEG FC...
I am a bit of a mix of a homebody and an extrovert. I happily spend time at home, reading, catching up on my latest show, playing video games, or working out. But I also love to get out with pals for board games, sports, trivia nights, festivals, really wherever the wind takes me. I love the mountains and get out there as often as I can, which is never enough, and try to get multiple backcountry trips in over the course of the year. I enjoy staying active whether at the gym, rock climbing, spin classes, playing sports (badly), or avoiding stretching then complaining about my lack of mobility and flexibility.
