What is Music Therapy?
It will come as no surprise that music has been used in healing, spiritual practices, philosophy, and celebrations throughout human history. In the medical world, articles about using music therapeutically were written as early as 1789 and into the early 1800s. Nowadays, music therapy refers to a Certified Music Therapist (MTA) using music within therapeutic relationships to support cognitive, communicative, emotional, social, and spiritual development and well-being.
